Update guide for Nationite S:Flo2
Information
S:flo2 Firmware Update Information

This/these guides are here to help user update their Nationite s:flo2, hopefully without problem

Basically there are a couple of different routines that need doing, depending on what version you have installed on the player. So hopefully this guide will help you update your player without problems

some general notes about the firmware situation
1.10 was original version
1.20 was a simple update from 1.10
2.00 then came along and is the one that causes problems as the routine is different - need to have 1.20 installed before updating to 2.00
2.20 is now here - if on version 2.00 update is easy, if on 1.20 then its a different routine

OS breakdown and compatibility with updates:
Windows XP sp2/3 will work fine and is recommended
windows vista 32 bit can be used and is same routines as posted (not tested by me but reported to work fine)
windows vista 64 bit - NO - and no foreseeable change in this
windows Win7 32bit is possible an we will work on the routine and post as soon as poss
Windows Win7 64bit - NO -and no foreseeable change in this
Mac of any variety can not be used
Linux of any variety can not be used

Use rear USB port for a more solid and reliable connection

IMPORTANT - USB drivers must be installed for update to work
The single most important thing for updating the sflo2 player is the special drivers needed.
When using the tools for the first time it will/should prompt you to install drivers - DO NOT LET WINDOWS DO THIS - you must guide the wizard to manually pick up the drivers located in the download with the update tools.

How to check your firmware version
1. Start player and select the SETTINGS option from main menu
2. Select the GENERAL option (top of the list)
3. Select the SYSTEM INFO option
4. Locate the word VERSION and see what you have installed

Check your firmware version
1.10 --> update to 1.20 before trying to update to a 2.x series firmware
1.20 --> you can update straight to 2.00/2.20 from this firmware
2.00 --> update to 2.20
2.20 --> latest update - you can re-install 2.10 if needed, say to apply a theme

Now choose the update routine you need
routine 1 - Updating from 1.20 to 2.x firmware
routine 2 - Updating from 1.10 to 1.20 OR 2.x to 2.x

these are posted directly below .

Trouble shooting and possible problems

Well to avoid this i re-flashed my player over 20 times, back and forth and i have added routines into the routines that will hopefully eliminate problems.
The main one i found (and has been experienced by other) is the garbled text, corrupted files and player possibly filling up with odd, large but empty files. This happened twice and both times were linked to the memory not getting formatted after the update.
Once was when i unchecked the FORCED ERASURE tick box - all appeared OK for a few mins then files started corrupting.
Second time was after an update was completed and player rebooted, after clicking on the drive it appeared OK, so copied files to it and they ended up corrupted - the player had not been formatted properly - i have added routines in to avoid this so please follow carefully the instructions.

IF anyone has any problems then please don't panic, don't press loads of buttons - just post the details of what you did, what point you got to and where you are at and we will try and help
